Meet the President

Cheryl Close is a leader in the area of individual development. She has 32 years experience as an educator including roles as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, central office administrator, and leadership coach. During her principalship, Cheryl’s leadership abilities were recognized by being named a finalist for District Administrator of the Year and by being honored to accept the No Child Left Behind, National Blue Ribbon of Excellence Award in Washington D.C.

In 2008, Cheryl recognized the need for new campus administrators to have a different kind of support as they grew into their leadership roles. As a central office administrator, she collaborated with a colleague to create a completely new leadership development program for her school district, which was adopted for all new campus principals. Cheryl then facilitated the CLASS Leadership Development Program and coached many new campus principals. At the end of the third year of the coaching program, the International Coaching Federation, North Texas Chapter awarded the CLASS Coaching Program the Prism Award for Coaching Excellence.

In June 2011, Cheryl left public education in order to devote all of her time to coaching and leadership development. She was so passionate about helping leaders develop their skills while growing into their leadership roles, that she founded Close Coaching & Consulting where she utilizes powerful coaching and training to help leaders achieve lasting change.

Cheryl has led many workshops with groups of all sizes and presented in the following areas: leadership, organization, taming the paper monster, using digital productivity tools, conflict resolution, decision-making, creativity and innovation, time management, gifted and talented students, special needs learners, differentiation of instruction, instructional improvement, and 21st century learning.

She has successfully coached business professionals, people in transition, new principals, central office administrators, and other community leaders empowering them to reach their leadership goals resulting in improved performance. Besides personally coaching clients, Cheryl also assists other coaches in improving their skills as they coach new leaders.

Cheryl is a member of the International Coaching Federation and the North Texas Chapter of ICF. She received a distinguished level of proficiency, the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential from the International Coaching Federation in August 2012.
