New Principal Development

The Problem:

Today schools face daunting challenges to prepare students for a future where they will be able to compete in a global economy. As the instructional leader, the Principal is the determining factor on the success or failure of a school. New leaders come to the position full of excitement, a vision and some jitters. Without proven professional development, the principal can become discouraged, the vision can become blurred and the jitters change to fear and desperation. Individual leadership coaching provides the support new leaders need in order to become great principals.

The Solution:

Close Coaching & Consulting’s individual coaching program provides one-on-one custom leadership development opportunities for principals. There is a strong commitment to proven leadership methods strengthened by a rigorously trained coach in a confidential and safe environment for growing as a new campus leader. The new Principal’s thinking is expanded through dialogue with a curious outsider. The principal has personal accountability for his/her own development and the gift of just in time learning. Principals are provided continuous individual attention. Individualized attention may well be the most significant attribute of this coaching program as it takes place over an extended period of time and it becomes a great way to acquire and ingrain new skills. For new Principals, the program can be for 1-3 years with a gradual release of responsibility as the new leader grows into the role. For existing Principals, the length of the program will be determined jointly based on need/desire.
